Biomechanical Assessment
Biomechanical Analysis
Where Am I Tight or Weak?
What kinds of questions do people usually have about biomechanical assessment?
- How do you start to improve overall flexibility and strength?
- How do I know if I am at risk for an injury? Do I need to worry about this?
- How do I safely accommodate a past injury? Can I do this?
- How long do I have to modify a movement?
- Do I need to do private training sessions? What would be the purpose?
What is a biochemical assessment?
- Generalized strength testing
– Shoulder Girdle and upper extremities
– Thoracic
– Lumbar
– Core
– Glutes and Hamstrings
– Lower extremities - General flexibility
– Muscle Length
– Joint mobility
– Dynamic movement - Movement assessment
– Squats
– Shoulder presses
– Lunge
– Walking
– Running
– Weighted carry
How do we put this all together? What needs to be modified? Where do I begin?
- Involvement of the trainers
– Creation of a cheat sheet
– Determine if private sessions are needed and for what - Taking ownership
– Specific stretches
– Specific isolated strengthening
– Determine if further sessions are necessary to rehab an injury or if further education is needed to tap into the correct muscle recruitment.
